"Old" Love

I work at a doctors' office and I see all types of people. I have in particular two patients that make my heart melt every time they walk in. An elderly couple that is without a doubt happy together. He is 75 and she is 73. Now, their story gets more interesting. This couple has not always been together or even married. The elderly man we shall call John met this elderly lady who we can also call Jane when they were already in their 60's. Hard to believe actually that two people at a much older age could fall in love all over again. Johns' wife died of cardiac problems and so did Janes' husband. They met each other not quiet sure with the specifics but they had their spouses death in common. Yeah, not the happiest thing to reminisce about but these two found each other in that way. Either it was their grief that they were brought together by or the fact that they were at the right place at the right time. Aha, fate!? Needless to say these two are happy no matter what. I enjoy doing their therapies and I hear them telling each other jokes and kidding with one another. John always calls Jane "Baby". It is the cutest thing I probably will ever see! "Baby, are you okay?" "Baby, did you hear her call your name?" Jane has trouble with her hearing and he helps us at times get her attention and he does it with such a tender heart. These two should give any non-hopeless romantic some type of hope with love.

Every time I see John and Jane I cannot help but feel my heart smile.

To think. . after I pass away and my husband is already elderly, that he could find love again. Ahhh, I could not ask for more. I am not going to dread the fact that he would fall in love with someone else once I am gone. I would absolutely want him to be happy even though I am not there and he is at a much older age. Wouldn't you?

 Love,
A hopeless romantic
